I changed the code as above and that part now works. I have one 
remaining problem. In my header file, on the lines

__fastcall TForm1::TForm1(TComponent *AOwner)
        : TForm(AOwner);
__fastcall TForm1::~TForm1();

I get the following errors

[C++ Error] FunctionsUnit.h(29): E2090 Qualifier 'TForm1' is not a class 
or namespace name
[C++ Error] FunctionsUnit.h(29): E2040 Declaration terminated incorrectly
[C++ Error] FunctionsUnit.h(32): E2090 Qualifier 'TForm1' is not a class 
or namespace name
[C++ Error] FunctionsUnit.h(32): E2040 Declaration terminated incorrectly
