What kind of messages exactly?

That is entirely up to you.  Either one can be used.  The real question ius - how much work are you willing to do yourself, and how much work do you want to be done for you?  TServerSocket can certainly handle everything you want to do, but at the cost that you have to code most of it yourself.  Indy, on the other hand, automates many common operations, but at the cost of having to install an entire library of components that you will probably never use.
