Hope somebody help me!

I'm write a "simple" programS running on same computer on a network
One program generate data, the other consume it.
It seems easy for a client server. But using ClientSocket/Serversocket
component, if the SERVER is not listening, I obtain an error: the program
freeze and the system sometime crash (when they work on a server Win2000
...).
So I use an Indy UDP client server.
But after some tousand of data, allways when the server IS NOT LISTENING,
this also freeze.
How to resolve this?
Too hard write a COM program and I want forget DDE solution, but also this
is a broblem and I want correct!

Somebody can help me?
