In my application I am using TIdFTP in a separate thread. When a operation hangs (that is it does not return) for whatever reason, how do you properly terminate the operation?

Which version and build of Indy are you using? > for whatever reason, how do you properly terminate the operation? Disconnect the socket. That is about the only thing you can do. You could try also calling Abort() to close the data socket, but if things are hung, that is no guarantee that everything will release properly. It depends on what is actually causing the hang.
