How to drive the LPT port lines ?

Hi everybody,

I have to drive the output lines of the LPT (parallel) port
of my machine. The purpose is to trace with an oscilloscope
the exact duration of some tasks : I do that with setting a
LPT line at 1 in entering the task, and clearing this line
in quiting the task. This works perfectly. This is a way for
debugging progs...As we have 12 useable lines on LPT port
(58 data + 4 CTRL out), this is quite interesting.

With Visual C++, i am using the _outp function associated with
a free tool called userPort 1.0 provided by : www.writelog.com/support

the reason I use this crack tool is because I did not succeed in implementing the Win32 communications function (it works
well with serial com, but not with // port...).

With Borland C++, the outportb function (and generally I/O
basic functions) is no more supported. The HELP in C++6.0
indicates :

"You can use a third party VCL component, or use the Win32 API CreateFile and the Win32 communications functions. For more information on this technique, refer to the Using the communications functions help topic in the Microsoft WinSDK help files."

Has anybody already worked on this subject and find solutions ?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

Yeah, you can't directly access i/o ports in 32 bit programs.
The manipulation must be done at the driver level.

Take a look at
http://www.paraport.net/

There have been other drivers mentioned, I believe, in nativeapi
group, but I can't find them now.
