Hi!

I'm new here. I've tried to find some examples about socket programming in
C++ Builder but there's not many of it on the Web. Does anybody know
something interesting in this matter. I'd like to make an app for exchanging
text messages (that's quite obvious) but I also need some steering (i.e.
servers sends some sort of command byte(s) for all the clients and receive
response from all of the present ones). I don't know if this requaire some
byte specific solutions. I don't really know how to deal with objects from
the 'Internet' component. I'm a rookie ;-) as all can see...

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,

Sockets are complex and advanced. Most newbies will get further by using
one of the Indy components from AtoZedsoftware.com.

This doesn't answer your question, but it might put you on a better track
for success.

If you have BCB5, then you should find an example of a Chat Program in
Borland\CBuilder5\Examples\Internet\Chat which perfectly demostrates two-way
comms using sockets.

Please receive on you mail box mferenc@op.pl a copy of a C++Builder client-server project as a sample that you may modify very easily I guess.

Didier.
