Using TIdSMTP with authentication
#294

I have been using TIdSMTP for the past year or so, and now I get an error in my Borland C++ application when I use it to connect to my mailserver to send mail. The error is #10061 Connection Refused. I have no problem with my Outlook mail client, and I suspect some kind of authentication problem.

Can anyone help?

Have you talked to your server provider yet to see if anything changed on
their end? 10061 means one of two things:

1) there is a machine running on the IP you are trying to connect to, but
there is no server socket running on the Port.

2) there is a server socket running, but it has too many pending connection
requests that it cannot accept new requests at the moment.

Then I suspect #2 above.

10061 occurs only at connection time. Authentication occurs after the
connection has been established. You are not even getting that far.

In the past when we had this using nSoftware's ipWorks, it was an open port
issue on our side.
