indy9->indy10 udp migration (CB6->CB2007)

I have a TIdUDPServer that is listening datagrams from the udpclients.

To accept data the OnUDPRead assigned to my function.
I tried to use the same code that I have for CB6-Indy9, under CB6 the
code works fine, but after migrating to the CB2007->Indy9 the code
accepts only one packet and after that no more, after restarting of the
program I can accept again one packet from the client, another from the
second client and again no more from these clients. What's the problem?

The second question - on the program exit I have error 10004 from the
server (only for Indy10).

Have you tried upgrading to the latest Indy 9 snapshot yet? I suggest you
do that and see if the problem continues.

> What's the problem?

There is no way to answer that without seeing your actual code. Perhaps you
are crashing the server?

> on the program exit I have error 10004 from the server

You should not be seeing that particular error. It only occurs when
WSACancelBlockingCall() is called, which Indy never uses.

> only for Indy10

Which Indy are you actually using - 9 or 10?

Actually I am using Indy9 + CB6, and for this version program works fine.

But I tested the CBuilder2007 (RAD 2007), and compiled application for
Indy10 and got a problems. Really the application is very simple:
There are TIdUDPClient and TIdUDPServer in the same program, client
SendBuffer to the Server, the server has OnUDPRead event to get data,
that's all, for the first time I have data, for the second time I have
not. Error 10004 I have on the program close.

For indy9 this program is working.

If you are using the Indy 10 that shipped with RAD2007, then you are using
an old version of Indy. RAD2007 did not ship with an up-to-date version,
because one was not available at the time. It shipped with the same version
that had shipped with BDS2006 instead. Again, I suggest you upgrade to a
newer version from Indy's website and see if the problem continues.

I download the latest version of indy10, but fulld11.bat or fullc11.bat
are absent, how can I install? Manually?

Also I tried to install indy10 for C6 by fullc6, but got the message:
Could Not Find D:\CBuild6\Packgs\Indy10\C6\*.rsp
and no obj files.

Search for a message by me in the last two weeks, which covers how to adapt
the fullc6 batch file to install Indy 10 in BCB2007.

The catch is that the Indy tool palette pages aren't created.

There are some delete statesments that will harmlessly fail, but that batch
file should work. I was able to install Indy 10 successfully in BCB6
(complete with tool palette pages), without modifying the batch file.

If you don't see "Error" at the end, it should have been compiled
successfully. You then just need to install the design packages through the
IDE.

OK, I compiled the latest version of indy10 for CB2007, installed, but
the problem exists again.
The test is very simple:
1. Create a CB Form application, put on the form TIdUDPServer and set
the Activ=true;
2. Start the application and then stop, on the stop I have the socket
error 10004.

The same program under delphi personality works fine.
Any comments/help?

Do you see the error when running outside of the debugger?

I tested under CB6-Indy10 and under D2007-Indy10, works fine. Also I
tested on the different PC under CB2007-Indy10 - works fine. Something
is wrong with my CB2007 installation. I'll look for solution of this
problem.

You did not answer my question. Were you running under the Debugger at the
time the error was occuring? If so, then it is perfectly normal to see such
errors. That is the debugger itself, not the code, displaying the popup
message.

No, I can see this message without debugger.
This problem exists only on my home PC, I tested on my office PC with
the same package, works fine.

Can you show your actual code?

Were you ever successful in installing the latest version of Indy?

I could install Indy10 for BDS2007 and CB6 successfully and I am using
it on CB6 for now.

Actual code for the CB2007 is very simple:
Craet vcl application and put TIdUdpServer to the form, will set the
Active = true, after compile and start/stop I have error 10004 for home
installation (WinXP+BDS2007), at work I have Win2008+BDS2007 that works
fine.

I found the solution: within the project file there were
IndyCore.bpi/lib and IndyCore120.bpi/lib (and protocols), I removed the
firsts and testproject now works fine.

Which means you didn't uninstall the Indy 10 that came with the compiler
before installing the latest version.
