Apache API & webserver creation
#3042

Hi all,

I would like to know if something I would like to do is possible. I want to
turn an existing small application into a webserver using the Apache API -
is this feasable?

I am using Builder 6 to develop a small app that currently has http server
ability, but this needs upgrading as https needs supporting, as well as
various other bits and bobs. The initial intention was to use a WeOnlyDo
http server component, or the MBed http server library. However, the
WeOnlyDo component is limited to Windows only, and the MBed component is
somewhat expensive.

I want to know if it's possible to create a stand alone web server using the
Apache API rather than another component or library. If I can do this then
it's cheap, powerful, and plaform independent. I also don't really want to
start ripping bits of Apache code out of the source and pasting them into
Builder classes, and I don't want to create an Apache module.

I can't find any documentation on this, which seems to indicate that you
cannot do this, but can anyone confirm?

Many thanks.
