Hi folks, we all have had some problems with Indy9 BCB 6
installation. Well I have been doing some research and
have come up with the following.
Of course comments and corrections will be entertained.

Indy9 on Borland C++ Builder 6.0
--------------------------------

If you have been looking at the newsgroup postings, you
will notice the following..

Indy 9.0.18 does not have any bat, or exe files or the
IndyWin32.rsp. This is quite bad and leaves the 'beginner'
Indy operator in trouble scratching her/his head roaming
the newsgroup for a solution. (This includes me).

My focus here is to try to create a simple installer
just for BCB6.0, users. But first here are some of the
steps you may want to go through that could help with
a typical installation. Once again any comments or corrections will be
entertained.

Working Installation Steps
--------------------------

1. Download the zip snap Indy 9.0.18 and extract to
    a path.
2. Download the zip snap Indy 9.0.17 and extract the
    following to latter path...
    Clean.bat
    Fullc6.bat
    SetEnv.bat
    Computil.exe
    lspFix.exe

3. Download the zip snap Indy 9.0.11 and extract the
    following same latter path...
    IndyWin32.rsp

4. The next (tricky) part is removing all the old
    Indy 8 files.
    But first a disclaimer.....
the following step will remove any indy related
files of any version and it may also affect other
    components of similar naming convention.
So you are doing this step at your own risk.

Recursively search and remove the following files
from the BCB6 Path and sub paths within.....
    [Drive]:\Program Files\Borland\CBuilder6
or whatever path your BCB6 core path is.

    "dclindy*.bpl"
    "indy*.bpl"
    "dclindy.*"
    "indy*.lib"
    "id*.pas"
    "id*.hpp"
    "id*.obj"
    "id*.dcu"

Also remove the following from the SYSTEM ROOT path
    e.g. [Drive]:\WINNT\System and maybe
         [Drive]:\WINNT\System32...

    "indy*.bpl"

5. Run the Fullc6.bat file. With any luck you will
get a path next to the one you extracted called [C6].

And that is typically what has to be done to build
Indy 9.0.18. The next few steps are my pitch and tries
to make the indy installation part of the BCB6 file
system so you will have to put any extra searching paths
in LIB and INCLUDE in the BCB6 environment.

6. Copy all the source files *.pas to the the [C6] path
created by the batch file. Take a note of this [C6]
path this path is what I want to use (in it's current
    state) to create the installer.

7. Finally from the [C6] path, copy the following.....
     dclindy60.bpl "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Bin\dclindy60.bpl"
     indy60.bpl "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Bin\indy60.bpl"
     indy60.bpl "[Drive]:\Program Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Bin\indy.bpl"
     indy60.bpl "[Drive]:\WINNT\System32\indy60.bpl"
     indy60.lib "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Lib\indy60.lib"
     indy60.lib "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Lib\Debug\indy60.lib"
     indy60.lib "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Lib\Release\indy60.lib"
     indy60.lib "[Drive]:\Program Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Lib\indy.lib"
     indy60.lib "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Lib\Debug\indy.lib"
     indy60.lib "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Lib\Release\indy.lib"
     dclindy.dpk "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Source\Indy\dclindy.dpk"
     dclindy.res "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Source\Indy\dclindy.res"
     dclindy.dcp "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Lib\Obj\dclindy.dcp"
     dclindy.dcu "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Lib\Obj\dclindy.dcu"
     indy.lib "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Lib\Debug\indy.lib"
     indy.lib "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Lib\Release\indy.lib"
     *.pas "[Drive]:\Program Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Source\Indy\"
     *.hpp "[Drive]:\Program Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Include\Vcl\"
     idpas32.obj "[Drive]:\Program
Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Source\vcl\idpas32.obj"
     *.dcu "[Drive]:\Program Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Lib\Obj\"

Finally the installer will then do the following
1. Delete all older indy8 files via a recursive search and delete (as
described).
2. Copy the created files in the [C6] path in the way described above.
3. Create certain registry entries.

Well let me know...

No, we all haven't. Indy 9 works just fine for me in BCB6.

Indy is not likely to adopt such an installer unless it can be made to run
uniformly for multiple versions.

Those instructons are already available in Indy's Knowledge Base.

I think we can use IndyWin32.rsp in the Indy_9_00_17_src.
