The old TCP/IP Socket (Client and Server)...

I have just recently purchased the new RAD Studio 2007 C++ Builder and was wondering if it came with the old TCP/IP Sockets... I know you had to enable them in C++ Builder 2006... They are the same components that use the OnRead() function and things like that. If it does, how do I add those components to my library??

Yes, but they are not installed by default anymore as they have been deprecated. > I know you had to enable them in C++ Builder 2006... The same applies to 2007 as well. > If it does, how do I add those components to my library?? The same way you had to in 2006 - install the dclsocket*.bpl package. Gambit

That was the exact thing I was looking for: dclsocket*.bpl.. Thank you! Now, one question pertaining to this: Does this socket support the ability to send files back and forth between two clients? TClientSocket and TServerSocket are the same as they have always been. They only know about memory buffers that you provide. You have to manage the files yourself. Read a buffer from a file, send it, receive it, write it to a file. That sort of thing. Gambit

would you happen to know anywhere I could find a good tutorial or sample to look over on how to implement the transmission of files? Sockets have no concept of files. You send files the same way you send any other kind of data, which I already told you earlier what to do. If you want actual code snippets, then please go to http://www.deja.com and search the newsgroup archives. There have been tons of socket examples posted before. Gambit
