Hi,
I hope this is the right place for this post.
I'm using BCB6 and I just upgraded from
Win98 to Win XP
and I keep getting the following warning message.
C++ warning: W8058 Cannot create pre-compiled header: write failed
The system is new and I have tons of space so that isn't the problem.
The files in question were created by BCB when I cheated a New Component.
But I keep getting this same warning in other situations.
I have an Administrator account type.
I checked the folder properties and they are Read only.
So I changed them to NOT Read only.
Then I checked the folder properties again and they are Read only.
The files are written into the folder OK and I can edit them just fine.
Well, I'm confused.
Can you explain this warning??
Thanks,
DeWire

For the project that I was current working on...
The path is the default setting
$(BCB)\lib\vcl60.csm
So I Compiled again to verify that the warnings were still there...
They were NOT!?? A clean compile.
So I changed to the same project as before and there were the warnings.
So I checked the path again and it was...
c:\borland\CBUILD~2\lib\vcl60.csm
that seemed OK,
since it was the default and I didn't know where the .csm file should
otherwise be stored,
but I changed it to...
$(BCB)\lib\vcl60.csm
and the warnings went away.
Thinks, you were a big help.
Now, I have to wonder how did the default setting got to be...
c:\borland\CBUILD~2\lib\vcl60.csm
I had started BCB and discarded all of the default files.
Then I created a New Component,
This created a default project for the Package
The Project Options then had the stated Path setting.??
