Hi all, I have an app compiled in CBulider 5 with accelerator keys on the TMenuItem captions of the TMainMenu. (For example, &File on the File Menu item.) My problem is the underline for the accelerator key does not always show up on Windows 2000 or Windows XP. At some point, I believe I heard there was a setting somewhere in Win 2K or XP that needed to be changed. Does anyone how to get the underlines to show up? Thanks, Warren Stewart

The display of accelerators is disabled by default in those versions of Windows. You have to enable it in the Display applet of the Control Panel. That has nothing to do with the VCL. Gambit

For WinXP, Win2003, using: Control Panel | Display | Appearance tab | Effects Button I find a checkbox labeled: "Hide underlined letters for keyboard navigation until I hit the ALT key". When I uncheck this box, I'm still not getting visible underlines on the main menu options. Rather, I get a behavior where pressing the ALT key depresses the left most main menu selection in button fashion; allows left-right main menu item navigation with the arrow keys; and, when you press the ENTER key, the submenu of the depressed menu item is displayed with its accelerator keys underlined. To check what would happen, I changed the AutoHotKeys property of the TMainMenu component from maAutomatic to maManual. This had no effect. Are you aware of any other setting in the Control Panel, Display applet that might alter this further? Thanks Warren S.

Works fine for me on XP. > I get a behavior where pressing the ALT key depresses the left > most main menu selection in button fashion; allows left-right main > menu item navigation with the arrow keys; and, when you press the > ENTER key, the submenu of the depressed menu item is displayed That is what menus are supposed to do when you press ALT without pressing a letter with it. That works the same in all Windows versions, and has nothing to do with whether the accellerators are hidden or not. > Are you aware of any other setting in the Control Panel, Display applet > that might alter this further? There are no other settings. Gambit
