BCB5 to 2006 project linker problems
#35

Hi,

I've just ported a dll project from BCB5 to BDS2006. However, when I build it, the following warning is produced:

[Linker Warning] Image linked as an executable, but with a .DLL or .BPL extension.

From the linker command line options, it's automatically trying to include a .dfm file which doesn't exist.

Alas when I run the executable which links this library, very quick death is recieved:

The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).

Does anyone have any ideas whats going wrong with the BCB5 to BDS2006 project upgrading???

Did you import the existing BCB 5 project, or did you create a new project?
If the former, then try the latter instead. Borland's project importer is
still not perfect yet.

I just imported the BCB5 project. Any ideas when a patch for the importer will be available? I've got over 100 dll projects to migrate and really don't fancy manually creating each one!!!

cheers,

mat

I have a similar problem like you but at runtime when I create
dynamically a Form with new. It raises a EResNotFound Exception.
With BCB5, BCB6 version worked fine. The project is large to create
again (DLLs, EXE) adding the files and setting the options for the
compiler, it could be a headache!!!

Like I mentioned earlier, try creating a new project fresh instead and
migrate your source code over to it.

No, and I would not wait for one anyway. Borland has had importer problems
in EVERY version of C++Builder, and the workaround is always the same in
each one - make a new project fresh.

Found a suitable work-around for people who have this problem. In the linker "other options", enter "-Tpd".

Still doesn't explain why borland got this wrong for one dll out of about 80 I imported...
