Generate import lib to be used in MSVC++

Hi experts...

I have developed a dll in BCB6. I need to release import libraries for both
BCB6 and MSVC++. Obviously, the import library for BCB6 was created for me
when I built the dll. How can I generate the import library for MSVC++?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You cannot generate an import library for MSVC++ with Borland tools. You
must use Microsoft tools to do that.

What you can do is to create a module definition file with Borland's tools
and give that to them. They then add the module definition file to their
build in a manner quite similar to how they would have added an import
library. If they don't like that then they can use their tools to create an
import library from either of the module definition file or from the DLL.

  impdef -a DllName.DEF DllName.DLL

The '-a' option above says to alter any 'cdecl' style export names from
their common form, the form specified for almost all compilers, Microsoft
included, to the different form that Microsoft adopted much later. It might
be useful to have a version created without the '-a' placed somewhere on
your distribution disk for them to use in the case that their MSVC++ version
is older.

Creating DLLs in BCB that can be used from Visual C++
