Where could the message 'No MSI-device opened' (the german text is 'Kein MCI-Gert geffnet) comes from? As it seems it does not occur directly when calling a methode. e.g. MyMediaPlayer->Play(), but sometimes afterwards, when an event has been completed and the applicaition is waiting for another user-input. Thanks, Michael

Perhaps a littel unspecific, I meant, which function-call (or property change) could lead (finally) to this message? Thanks, Michael

MediaPlayer1->Open(); would cause this, or if that worked, MediaPlayer1->Play(); I would wrap both with a try...catch block, but as I said before, it doesn't seem to catch all MCI error messages. -- - Mark Jacobs DK Computing http://www.dkcomputing.co.uk
