Hiding windows in the taskbar

Hi everyone...

I'm working on an application to help users manage work fragmentation using
a new theory which purposes to "isolate" groups of applications from one
another (among other things). I thought doing this by selectively hiding and
showing each app-group in the task bar. I know it is possible to hide your
own applications' window by setting some options in the TApplication object
and sending some API messages, however I ask your help about sending
messages to all other apps to hide themselves from the taskbar. Is this
possible? Is this the best way to do it?

I've also looked at the CreateDesktop/SwitchDesktop functions, how ever is
not clear for me if you can actually create any number of desktops and
indistinctly display selected applications on each desktop by spawning them
form a central "application manager" and if you can redirect applications
from one desktop to any other (so the app can be shared among desktops).

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions
