Unless you are calling CancelIo() in your code, which I suspect you are not,
the only way to get the kind of error you are describing is due to hardware
failure.  You probably still have the serial port misconfigured.  Especially
since you are no using flow control of any kind, you probably are
overflowing the serial port, amongst other possibilities.  Why aren't you
using flow control to begin with?
