How can I reduce my VM size ?

I found that my software when running for a while, the VM Size of my
software is going bigger while Mem Usage is also fine (Up and down
normally).

My software calls simple API i.e. malloc() and free() to allocate and free
the memory, otherwise I use simple component such as ListBox

Mem Usage is down but VM size stands to the values (not going down like a
mem usage)

All of these items, I see in the Task Manager.

Does anyway to reduce the VM Size or this is a normal event ?
