Don't worry, Ed, I know I can rely on MSDN too. About BeginPaint and EndPaint, I guess the information that interests me is the setting of information internal to Windows, as you said. ;-) After a call to BeginPaint/EndPaint, it's like if Windows was stopping drawing the window, even if I call DefWindowProc right afterwards... Though, with GetDC/ReleaseDC, the window outline is drawn. Of course, Ed, I don't use exotic styles. The static controls have the following styles : WS_CHILD | WS_VISIBLE | SS_LEFT. In answer to your question, I'm just subclassing the group box with SetWindowLong. Well, I've tried to send them WM_ENABLE but it didn't solve the problem. The old caption and the new one still superpose... Well, Ed, that's OK, you've spent enough time on that issue. It's not a blocking bug so I will give it up by now. Thanks for everything, Mark
