I was actually thinking the OS would know, even if it wasn't telling anybody, and could restrict certain messages internally. The OS knows who is doing the SendMessage. The OS knows who is receiving the message. The OS knows the control has the Password feature turned on. The OS _could_ put it all together and refuse to forward the request. Might the seeming "sometimes"ness of the readability have to do with #3? That is, if the OS knows the password status of it's own controls, or doesn't know it of your controls?
