Reliable Multicasting. http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/winsock/winsock/pgm_senders_and_receivers.asp >Sounds like what you really need is a single file server that all clients go >to, and the server handles and directs the requests for data, openings, >closings, etc. and notifies the rest of the clients accordingly when needed. C/S? Thought about it, then shuddered and moved on. I can see several advantages to CS, but my gut tells me it'd be a nightmare. As is, it takes a new customer a couple months to figure out that they need to have the main computer turned on so they can get at the data (about 1/5 of my clients have a server, the rest are just peers). How many more calls would come in because they didn't start my server app? Or it hung up or aborted?
