What do you mean by "simplifies"?  WindowFromPoint is pretty simple.

If your problem is that you don't want to use the POINT struture then use 
something like this:

#include <windows.h>

HWND WindowFromPoint(long x, long y)
    {
    POINT p = { x, y };

    return ::WindowFromPoint(p);
    }
-------------------
