Please look at TAPI (Telephony API) more carefully.  The lineGetCallInfo()
function is not the only function in that API.  TAPI is an entire library of
its own.  For example, have a look at the lineSetStatusMessages() function
and the LINE_LINEDEVSTATE notification message.
