Works fine for me, and I've tested it right now again.

However, one modification could be of useful.
Instead of:
      BringWindowToTop( notepad );
...it's better:
      if ( IsIconic( notepad ) )
      {
         ShowWindow( notepad, SW_RESTORE );
      }
      SetForegroundWindow( notepad );

Because of potential minimized state of Notepad.
