You could have just defined the necessary structures/messages manually in
your own code instead of updating the entire header file.

Besides, even if you enabled grouping for the native TListView component,
you would still have problems.  TListView custom-draws itself, and as such
it does have known problems when themes are applied.

An alternative to using TListView would be to get the Raize component suite
from http://www.raize.com.  It has components that can do the grouping in
exactly the way you are asking for (if I remember correctly from the live
presentation I saw at the last BorCon), and does it under all Windows OSs,
not just XP.  That way, you could have the same UI regardless of which OS is
used or whether themes are present (and Raize's custom drawing is not based
on XP themes to begin with, although it can be configured to do so, so no
VCL issues).

For example, when TListView is in vsReport mode, it custom-draws its column
headers.  Because the VCL does not have a single line of XP-specific drawing
code, the column headers are not drawn correctly when themes are enabled.
