Please post some sample chars from the file in the following three ways:

- the characters that should appear in the RichEdit control
- the characters that effectively appear in the control
- the numerical codes (preferably in hex) of these characters in the file

For getting the codes in hex, you can use the command od with the switches
-cx on Linux shells and in the Cygwin bash (cf. http://www.cygwin.com/);
most text editors also offer the possibility to view a file in hex.
