The guy inquestion is someone that is purchasing software off me to sell on
to other sites, therefore he want the ability to alter the logo for each
sale and so it referrences there sites , but without the end users being
able to alter this logo...

And the exe wouldn't be modifying itself there would be an admin program
which i have already used many times that would assign a data chunk to the
end of the exe file containing settings and image data and saved as
"yourfilenow.exe".
