Thanks for the info and discussion, but it doesn't really help. Here's another bit of info. When the multi-CPU machine (2 X 2.4 GH Xeon) is booted in single processor mode, the app's throughput is higher than when it is booted in normal, multi-CPU mode. Multi-CPU seems to be causing some kind of contention, but we can't find it. Seems silly to say that the more CPUs we add, the slower the app runs. Comments and suggestions welcome. Thanks, - Arnie
