Hi,
your suggestion worked perfectly with all my
test cases. But as always there is some extra
problem :-(.
The target program has a main menu and all
but the last menu item have regular drop down
menues. The last menu item, however, brings
up a popup menu that seems to be created on the
fly. I assume the developer of the program used
the OnClick event handler of the main menu item
and creates a separate popup menu. Probably
because this submenu has dynamical content.

Now the problem is that Spy++ does not show
any WM_COMMAND coming from this submenu.
It catches a WM_COMMAND when I click the
main menu item but after that there is nothing.

Do you have any idea how to get information about
such a separate popup menu or how to automate it?
Does such a popup menu not have a parent?

thanks for your patience,
Nick
