Depends. TThread is Borland/Inprise specific. So if you plan
to use (or port to) any other compiler, no point in using them.

pthreads (Posix Threads) are standardised, and are portable between
most variants of Unix (and several other operating systems as well).

Under windows, AFAIK, pthreads-win32 can be used with gnu
compilers (eg mingw) and with visual C++ but not with Borland
(yet). I thought that the "C" version of that library could be
used with Borland (as can any DLL that only exports C functions
rather than C++ functions).

You might wish to have a look at ACE, available from

http://ww.cs.wustl.edu/~schmidt

ACE is actually a networking library, but includes functions
and classes that support threading. The methods it supplies
are not Posix, but it is *implemented* on Unix machines
using Posix calls.
