thanks Remy for your reply.

The main reason why I'm asking for the main window
is for example because of programs like BCB. BCB has
usually more than one top level window opened.

When I close BCB by hand it seems to remember which
windows were open at that time (f.e. Project Manager).
The next time I start BCB all these windows are
automatically opened again.
When I simply would send WM_CLOSE to all windows
the Project Manager could be closed before the main
window. That would mean that when BCB is started
the next time it would not be in the same state as it
was the last time.

What I'm actually looking for is something like simulating
a right-click in the task bar to close an application. For BCB
there is only one button in the task bar. Closing it this way
always seems to send WM_CLOSE only to its main window
thereby leaving all other windows untouched.

thanks,
Nick
