You didn't show what Caption contained, so there's no way to know for
sure what's wrong with it.

You could try something like this:
ShellExecute(Handle, "open","mailto:name@domain", 0, 0,SW_SHOWDEFAULT)

Or you could go to MSDN at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp
and look up "Simple MAPI"
or the better MAPISendMail.
