GetFileVersionInfo() expects a filename.  The only way what you describe can
occur is if you specify the exe's filename instead of the DLL's filename.
DLLs most certainly do have their own separate version resources, and can
definately be obtained by GetFileVersionInfo() separately from the exe.
Just make sure that you are specifying the correct filename to begin with.
