thanks Mark for this idea,
as you wrote it seems to be the Application pointer
that is making trouble. My dll doesn't even get loaded
when I try to access the application pointer, at least it
seems so.

I can assure, however, that the target app is Delphi or
C++Builder written. At least this is what Spy++ tells me
since the class name of the main form is TForm1!
But the VCL version could also be a problem.

I think I'll have to give up and try another way.
