What about not trying to covering the taskbar in the first place? If you use SystemParametersInfo() you can get the dimensions of the screen which are not covered by the taskbar, and then size your display accordingly. An alternative is to set your display to be top-most using SetWindowPos(HWND_TOPMOST) and then optionally also have Windows notify the taskbar that your window is a full-screen window so that the taskbar won't cover your window to begin with. One way to do that would be to have your display "pretend" to be a screensaver by calling SystemParametersInfo(SPI_SETSCREENSAVERRUNNING). Gambit
