Can't stop NT Service

Using BCB5 XP Pro

Trying to create a simple service - created a test app:

New/Application/Service - also tried Service Application with same result

Accept defaults but change to No runtime packages or libs

Add the following to the Execute method


while(!Terminated)
{
   Beep();
   Sleep(5000);
}

Compile & save

Install service
Start service

beeps every 5 seconds as expected

Stop service

error message - unable to stop service - nothing works other than reboot.

Why is the service not stopping and how can I stop it?
