Yes, but what about the String input_file ?
Is that not also local to the contructor?

P.S.
I find it's not usually a good idea to use very similar names for
different variables.  It makes it very easy to mistype inputfile for
input_file, and makes reading harder.  In this case, I'd call
input_file  filename  or  file_name, as it's the name of the file.
