How to send email with attachment

I'm trying to send an email with an attachment and the normal methods don't
seem to work:
i.e.
  AnsiString MailMsg = "mailto: fred@fred.com";
  MailMsg += ("?Subject="My subject"));
  MailMsg += "&attachment=\"c:\\junk.txt\"";
  MailMsg += "&Body=Body text";
  ShellExecute(NULL, "open", MailMsg.c_str(),NULL,NULL,SW_SHOW);

The email client comes up but no attachment is displayed.
What am I missing?
