I used IShellFolder::EnumObjects() to list the subfolders of the 'Network
neighborhood' folder and recorded the display name and PIDL of each
subfolder. I did the same for all the workgroups in the 'Entire network'
folder.

In Win98 (among others), network nodes that belong to the same workgroup as
the local machine are listed both under the 'Network neighborhood' folder
and the subfolder of 'Entire network' for the workgroup.

I used IShellFolder::ParseDisplayName() to get the PIDL for a UNC path
(like: \\user\share) but this returns a PIDL that differs from the two PIDLs
(one in 'Network neighborhood' and one in the workgroup folder of 'Entire
network') I recorded with EnumObjects(). The PIDL looks a lot like the PIDL
for 'Entire network', but is not an exact match. In fact,
IShellFolder::CompareIDs() indicates that the two PIDLs refer to different
objects.

Why is there a difference in the PIDLs returned by EnumObjects() and
ParseDisplayName() for the same UNC path?

Also, I would like to get the PIDL for the subfolder of 'Network
neighborhood', but don't know how.

Can anyone help me?
