Re: Read and write file over 2GB

We create 3GB+ data files on a completely redundant system. These files
contain one week of power grid data.

We have up to 40 weeks worth of data files spinning on each system at
any one time so the oprations engineering group can "share" a data drive
from a remote location and scan the data from any of the previous 40 weeks.

Each of the redundant systems has two 70gb scsi drives (two scsi
channels). Disk weeks alternate. Backups to the tape farm are automatic
and happen early Sunday morning when the network traffic is lowest.

As the disk fills, the oldest file(s) are deleted.
