But I hope that com port it is com port.
I mean it is not infrared port because infrared can some 
problems for Win2000/XP.

Only idea that you write program that is will send data 
on various speed, stopbits, etc... It can enumerate it 
open port, send data and close till you obtain positive 
result.

BTW, Are you sure that "AT" command must work for your 
GSM device?
