Interfacing hardware is something I do often- although I've never had to worry about parallel ports. 1. What OS are you using ? If NT/2000 you will need a device driver to get access to the port. They are available off the web. I have never used http://www.winsoft.sk/ioport.htm but have been told it is good. 2. As for the hardware you need to determine if there is a protocol offered by the manufacturer, or better still, if they have an existing interface (such as a DLL) that you can use directly. -- Malcolm Smith MJ Freelancing- http://www.mjfreelancing.com Software Protection for C++Builder Borland Technology Partner "Umar Kazi" <umarkazi@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:3f1a8909$1@newsgroups.borland.com... > > I am currently working on a project which is "sensor guided car > parking system".This project invloves interfacing of an optical encoder and a ultrasonic sensor with personal computer through > external interface card.Parallel port of computer has to be used for interfacing.Could you please help me in this regard. If you could please tell me how to read Input port in C++ Builder 4 or how to interface external hardware with computer using C++ builder.I will be much obliged on your responce. > Thanking you in anticipation > Kind Regards > Umar.S.Kazi >
