Yeah but if I lock the file in the producer code, the consumer would
probably try to open 
and get an error. Getting and handling errors is no problem, but I would
prefer the consumer open 
the file when it is time for it to open the file and not check and find
errors 
and then check again. That is....illiminate unecessary looping. 
I don't know if this sounds good to you?
