The articles I pointed out, particularly the one about exclusive locking, is an overview of what is needed in general. Then it is just a matter of working out the platform specifics. I know the operations are similar under Win9x/Me and NT/2K/XP because my company has code that deals with locking volumes under those platforms, and the code is not that different between them. Although, it does only perform logical volume locking, not physical volume locking. Gambit
