I am a seasoned programmer with experience in multithreading concepts ( mostly in c). However, lately I have begun to question my knowledge and have been in the process of upgrading my knowledge about multithreading. My question concerns issues about things being thread safe. In reviewing many resources on the subject I am always presented with very basic examples such as a global variable being referenced by multiple threads and the associated problems that can occure. No Problem. Also, there are many references that state that certain things such as the VCL and MFC as not being thread-safe whith some exceptions. What I have not seen is info as to the Win32 API. Is it Thread-Safe? How can I as a programmer of win32 (NT and above) based multithreadded applications know where and when there might be problems? Do multiple processes all accessing various Win32 api calls have to worry about these issues or do only multiple threads within a single process have to worry about them? Are there inherent differences between frame works such as MFC and VCL and the Win32 api inself that cause the frameworks to have threading issues while the api doesn't? Any help or feedback would be greately appreciated. Thanks Jeff
