Hi Mr Chris,
 I had the same trouble, and after two days of hard work (and hard blows
with my head against my monitor :) ) I managed to get rid of it!
That was a limit of VCL that can't save icon other than with that ugly
format!!
Now I have also that Visual C++ example project at MSDN that Mr. Nick
suggest you to see, taken apart from the entire msdk it's very small and I
can send it to you if you want, but if you are not used with visual c++
(blahh it's terrible compared with c++builder :) ) well give up ...
If you prefer I can send you my code, but actually it's very muddled, so if
you're in very hurry take it like it is, otherwise, I suggest you to wait
some days (I'm under exams session at university :( ) to me to order it in a
c++ class or better in a c++builder component (I love Borland components!!!)
 Don't be afraid of boring me, I really have a huge "debt" with the great
people working for Borland Team :) ... and if I can I'm very happy to help
somebody sharing my own hobby:)
