Under  Windows ME
using Borland free compiler
Win 32 API

I set up a small program to give me a better understanding
of directory creation, file creation etc

This prog consists of one menu with open file,save-as create new.
In a window that has client area that is all edit control.

It brings up the Windows standard open file dialog box

What i cant undersatnd is this

when i first ran the program named
FileTest.c  located in a directory C:\Mytest

I used open and the dialog box opened with the
Mytest Folder shown in the bar

I then chose a different folder and succesfully opened a text file.

however even after shutting down the pc and rerunning the program.
whatever folder i last selected is shown in the bar.

i am not running any ini file or using setcurrentdirectory
So how come it always remembers what folder it last used even after
recompile.
