Is TEdit a Delphi component?  I should have been clearer
in my description, as I am programming using straight
Win32 API, using the C language only. So, I suspect
the TEdit component is not available to me, but I am
very new to Windows programming so what do I know.

My edit control is being created from a resource script
which I am compiling with the Borland resource compiler
and then including into my executable using the Borland
Command Line Compiler. I have searched the SDK, MSDN
and Googled repeatedly, but I can find no reference to a way
to prevent an edit control from initially displaying text in
reverse video.  I  think this is the default option with an edit
control, so there may be no way to defeat it, unless there is
some documentation I am not finding.
