Probably not, but I'm not sure what group would answer it.

That depends on whether you are receiving data in parallel streams, and
whether data from each stream can be processed without requiring
interaction with data from another stream. In that situation, a multi-CPU
machine may be able to do the job. The main limiting factor will be the
other devices on the machine. For example, 2 processes each attempting
to write a file to the same disk will still be limited by the total data
that
can be written to that disk.

You may also wish to consider a network of machines, and doing distributed
processing.

If your problem is caused by data from a single stream, going to
multi-CPU is pointless unless *you* can design a means of distributing
data in pieces to different CPUs for processing.

(Just to put a winapi flavour on this message, there are ways to do thing
under
NT; look for functions such as SetThreadAffinity() in the win32 help file
as a starting point).
